Overview

A straight explanation of what we do, and why it matters

The best gas boiler installation you'll ever have is one you barely notice for the next ten years. That comes from correct sizing, a clean system, good controls and a tidy install, not from picking the cheapest quote in the pile.

Back to home
What it is
Full gas boiler installation, replacement and system upgrades, combi, system and regular layouts, Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Viessmann, Alpha and Glow-Worm. Includes flueing, gas supply upgrades where required, controls, magnetic filter, inhibitor and system flush.
Who it's for
Homeowners across Royal Wootton Bassett, Swindon, Wroughton, Lyneham, Broad Town, Broad Hinton, Marlborough, Yatesbury and Calne replacing an ageing boiler or upgrading a system that no longer fits the home.
When you need it
When the existing boiler is over 10–15 years old, repair bills are stacking up, efficiency has dropped, hot-water demand has outgrown the boiler, or a kitchen or utility refit gives you the chance to relocate the plant sensibly.
Why professional matters
A properly specified, well-installed modern condensing boiler routinely delivers 90%+ efficiency and years of quiet, warranty-covered service. A rushed install on an unflushed system delivers neither.
The cost of leaving it

What happens when it's ignored

You can install a boiler in a day. You can install one properly in a day. They don't look identical for long.

Risks & escalations
  • Skipping a power flush installs a brand-new heat exchanger onto years of sludge; the fastest way to void the warranty.
  • Oversizing wastes gas and shortens the life of the boiler through short-cycling.
  • Undersizing leaves the house cold in genuine winter conditions and runs the boiler flat out for years.
  • Poor flue placement causes plume nuisance, condensate freezing and Building Regs breaches.
  • Old controls on a new boiler; you paid for weather compensation and modulation you'll never use.
Common mistakes
  • Choosing on price alone. £400 saved on the install often costs £1,200 in the first five years of running.
  • Assuming like-for-like is the right size. Windows, insulation and extensions change heat loss.
  • No magnetic filter fitted, every reputable manufacturer now expects one; some warranties depend on it.
  • Leaving old radiator valves, TRVs and programmers on a new boiler. Half the efficiency gain is in the controls.

A boiler is only as good as its install. Get the install right and it saves you money quietly for a decade.

Our process

A clear, five-step system, no surprises

  1. Step 1
    Free site survey

Boiler condition, gas supply, flue route, controls, system state, hot-water demand | the whole picture, before we quote.

  2. Step 2
    Written quote and options

Two or three sensible options | brand, output, warranty, layout | with a fixed installation price. No pushy upsell.

  3. Step 3
    System preparation

Power flush or chemical clean where needed, magnetic filter fitted, inhibitor dosed correctly. Warranty-safe from day one.

  4. Step 4
    Boiler installation

New boiler, flue, gas supply upgrades if required, expansion vessel, controls and filter | installed to manufacturer specification.

  5. Step 5
    Commissioning and handover

Combustion analysis, gas rate check, controls set-up, walk-through with you, Gas Safe notification and warranty registered.

The benefits

Concrete outcomes, not vague promises

Lower gas bills

Modern condensing boilers with proper controls routinely deliver 20–30% savings over a 15-year-old non-condensing unit.

Warranty stays valid

Installed to spec by a Gas Safe engineer, filter fitted, inhibitor dosed, paperwork on file | exactly as the manufacturer requires.

Quieter, cleaner running

Better burner technology, better combustion, better controls | a genuine step-change from older kit.

Right-sized to your home

Heat-loss calculated properly. No more short-cycling; no more running flat-out in January.

Fewer breakdowns

New parts, clean system water, correct pressures. The warranty years should be quiet years.

Single point of contact

You deal with Ben | quote, install, commissioning and after-sales. Not three departments and a subcontractor.

In detail

The technical stuff, explained straight

Where the theory meets the van. Materials, methods, brand differences and the specific situations we deal with week in, week out across Wiltshire.

Combi, System or Regular | which layout fits your home

Combi: no cylinder, hot water on demand from the mains. Best for smaller homes with good incoming water pressure and one main bathroom. System: sealed system with an unvented or vented cylinder, stores hot water, delivers strong flow to multiple outlets simultaneously. Best for busy family homes and properties with more than one bathroom. Regular / conventional: cylinder plus loft tank(s), usually retained where existing pipework is heavily invested in, or where mains pressure is very poor. We'll walk you through which fits your home, hot-water pattern and mains pressure honestly, not the one that's easiest to fit.

Boiler brands we install

Worcester Bosch Greenstar (long-established, strong warranty and parts network). Vaillant ecoTEC (excellent modulation and controls). Ideal Logic and Vogue (competitive on price with strong warranties). Baxi (solid mid-market, excellent gas supply flexibility). Viessmann (premium engineering, particularly strong on modulation). Alpha and Glow-Worm where budget is the priority. Each has strengths and each has quirks, we'll give you a straight recommendation based on your home, not a preferred-supplier list.

Controls | where a lot of the savings live

Modern boilers modulate; they turn their output down when the house doesn't need much heat, which is most of the year. That's unlocked by good controls: a programmable room thermostat as a minimum, weather compensation or load compensation where the boiler supports it, and properly set TRVs on the radiators. Smart thermostats are optional but useful for zoning and holiday control. We'll set the controls up properly on handover, not leave a factory default and call it a day.

Gas supply, flueing and Building Regs

A larger or higher-modulation boiler sometimes needs a gas supply upgrade, 22mm rather than 15mm, to satisfy the manufacturer's inlet pressure. We test at commissioning and, where an upgrade is required, quote it into the job rather than discovering it on install day. Flueing must comply with Building Regulations Part J (oil) or Part L (gas) and manufacturer termination distances. As Gas Safe registered installers we notify Building Control via the competent-person scheme.

System flushing and warranty compliance

Nearly every mainstream manufacturer now specifies a power flush or thorough chemical clean when replacing a boiler on an existing system. Skipping it puts sludge, magnetite and debris straight through the new heat exchanger; the number one cause of early warranty rejections. We include a system clean, magnetic filter and inhibitor as standard. If the system is heavily sludged, we'll recommend and quote a full power flush before the boiler goes on. Cheaper than a rejected warranty claim two winters later.
